Mmmmm, Pentagon-approved porn

In Culture, Fort Bragg, God, N.C., Politics on November 13, 2007 at 7:36 pm

Ah, the bedfellows who snuggle so awkwardly when the subject of porn rears its head: feminists and religious wingnuts. That’s good fun.

This time, it’s over the Pentagon’s decision to allow the sale of certain male-oriented material on base.

The board decided that because the majority of each title’s contents dealt with advertising and non-pornographic material, then “based on the totality of each magazine’s content, they were not sexually explicit”. The Pentagon thus allowed the sale of titles including Celebrity Skin, Penthouse, Playboy, Playboy’s College Girls, Playboy’s Lingerie and Nude.

So whaddya think about allowing a certain amount of whack material on base? Should the troops have to march off base to get their jollies? Is the Pentagon contributing to the rise in reported military rape cases?

Full disclosure: I take a libertarian view toward porn (knock yourself out, pal) and a very dim view toward rapists (hanging’s too quick.)

  1. I’m OK with it as long as they make sure that nobody’s bringing the magazines to the perimeter with them when they’re supposed to be on guard duty LOL!
